God is Repairing Foundations
As the Body of Christ moves forward in this exciting season, it is important to remember that God is an architect and builder. In Hebrews 11:10 we find Him described this way, “For he (Abraham) was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”
There is momentum in the Kingdom of God. Things are always moving forward and advancing. As God is a builder, He is always building something new. When God builds something, He does it perfectly according to His standards and design.
That is why I believe we are in a season of repairing of foundations. The foundation for a building is paramount to the success of the building. I believe we have been in a time of God exposing cracks in our foundations. But, God has been exposing the cracks in our foundations for the purpose of renovation and restoration, but ultimately, increase and expansion.
Our foundations have to be in proportion to what God is building. If God is expanding your life and mission, then it is likely that new foundations are being built and added in your life presently.
Cooperating with the Builder and Architect
God is bringing His people back to His plumb line. In the dictionary, plumb line is defined as: “A piece of string with a weight attached to the end that is used to check that something such as a wall is vertical or that it slopes at the correct angle.”
God, as the ultimate architect and builder will not put His stamp on a faulty foundation, but instead He lovingly brings the necessary adjustments to ensure that things are built according to His plumb line.
Isa. 28:16 says, “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line;….”
We know that righteousness and justice are important to God. In fact, Psalm 89:14 tells us that righteousness and justice are the very foundation of His throne.
God has given us His word and His Spirit so that we can walk according to His righteousness and His justice. We don’t ever need to move away from valuing His word and His Spirit in our lives. We have seen culture shifting where many are valuing their own opinion over God’s. This is a dangerous path to walk. But, God is extending His plumb line so that every heart can make the necessary adjustments to return to the cornerstone that He has set in place. That cornerstone is Jesus.
Blueprints are another necessary part of any building project. As we move forward to build with God, we must ensure that we build according to the architect’s blueprints. We access those plans in intimacy with Him. He may download them in a dream, a vision, through a messenger, or in quiet time with Him. But, they will have His mark on them and will be the only plans that will produce a successful building in His Kingdom.
It is exciting to dream of the possibilities of what God will build through each of our lives. As we dream, we need to also take time to allow God to restore any cracks in our foundations. This is the time to invite Him into your heart and life to make the necessary adjustments. If you are walking in bitterness, unforgiveness, judgment, or offense, then allow the Spirit of God to pour His healing balm into those painful places as you repent and change your thinking to align with His.
God is looking for a full yield and a full surrender in this season. He is preparing His people so we will be ready for all that is to come. I’m so thankful that our good Father is also our architect and builder. We can submit to His work with full confidence that He will lovingly build something incredibly beautiful with each of our lives.
